PowerBI Tool

Power BI is a business analytics service by Microsoft. It aims to provide interactive visualizations and business intelligence capabilities with an interface simple enough for end users to create their own reports and dashboards. Power BI provides cloud-based BI (business intelligence) services, known as “Power BI Services”, along with a desktop based interface, called “Power BI Desktop”. It offers data warehouse capabilities including data preparation, data discovery and interactive dashboards.

Prepare Data for Analysis

For this task, I have prepared data using the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. For data analysis I have created six different tables with different fields entered which shows the data related to sales details for various products and branches. The table structure is shown in the below image.

Once the data is entered in the tables we use this data to perform data analysis and model data in power bi.

Model Data in PowerBI

Data can be loaded in power bi from various sources. For loading data from SQL server we choose the option of SQL server and enter our credentials and load the data in power bi.

To view the entire data tables and its relations it can be viewed in the model tab. Also if we want to create relations between tables it can be from the model tab. Below image shows the relation between various tables that have been imported from SQL server database.

To analyse data for specific attributes from different tables, we can create reports from those specific chosen attributes in the reports section of the power bi desktop application. In the below image a report is represented in the tabular form which shows details about brand, category, product key, sales revenue earned and the total quantity of product that are sold.
